Pashtet

In July 2025, Pashtet set off on a long journey to his new home — and now he is living his best life. But his story is a difficult one. You can read it below.

We found Pashtet in July 2024. He was in terrible condition: a very large cat, but extremely emaciated — his ribs were visible through his fur. His jaw shifted unnaturally when he tried to eat. We decided to catch him and take him to the clinic. He behaved very aggressively, which is often a sign of severe pain. He would not let people come near, so we had to use a humane trap.

At the clinic, it turned out he had already been neutered. An ultrasound showed an abnormally enlarged liver (that’s where his name “Pashtet,” meaning “pâté,” comes from — a bit of dark humor on our side). This condition could have been caused by poisoning. A long course of treatment followed.

In foster care, Pashtet soon showed that he was truly a house cat. He used the litter box perfectly, and once the pain was under control, he became affectionate and playful. Combined with the fact that he had already been neutered, we are almost certain he once had a home. We posted notices throughout the area where he was found, but no one ever contacted us. Sadly, we came to the conclusion that Pashtet was likely abandoned when he became ill.
