Syrnik was never returned to us — and these are our favorite kinds of updates :) She was staying with a wonderful foster family who had previously helped us with post-surgery care for another cat. Then Syrnik came to stay with them — and very soon, a deep bond formed. It became clear that this was a perfect match, and no one even considered separating them.
In March 2026, it was officially decided — all hearts surrendered, and Syrnik found her loving home. Now she happily travels on her family’s shoulders and heads, sleeps right next to them or on their chest, and gets into all kinds of playful mischief. We regularly receive updates from her and couldn’t be happier.
Below is her story.
Gata was sometimes seen and fed, and a few days ago a message appeared in the neighborhood chat: she was running around a parked car, crying loudly because her kitten was inside. Our volunteers spent almost an hour coaxing the little one out from under the car — lying on the ground, blindly reaching for something soft and warm. At first they thought the kitten had run away and wasn’t there, but then, among the mechanisms, their hands found a fluffy and bitey little ball. Another 20 minutes — and Syrnik finally allowed herself to be pulled out. That’s how we first met her.
Now Gata and her daughter are in temporary foster care. Syrnik is about a month old, and her mom is still nursing her. Once the feeding period ends, we’ll take Gata to be spayed — we had to postpone the surgery, since for now she wouldn’t be able to wear the recovery vest. After that, we’ll have to release Gata back to the street, unless a home is found for her by then 😔
