FAQ
What is Kotoprovod?
Kotoprovod (meaning, lovingly, “cat supply pipeline”) is a project orchestrated by several like-minded friends who wish to improve the lives of homeless animals.
We mostly focus on neutering street cats to decrease the population’s growth and make it easier on animals. In rare cases, we also work with dogs.
After being fixed and treated, the animal is kept at a foster home for about 10-14 days (depending on how the animal feels) while we search for a new loving family for them. During this time, we’re waiting for adoption requests. Send us a message! If we get no requests during this time, we release the animal back to where we found them. If the animal is not fully healthy and can’t live on the streets, we keep searching for a permanent home for them while they stay at a foster place.
Right now, our foster homes are full of animals saved at a very young age or found with severe injuries. They are now healed and ready to be adopted.
Our project is very resource-intensive. We always welcome any help!
Where is Kotoprovod?
We’re located in Yerevan, Armenia (though we have members in other countries as well).

How to help Kotoprovod?
There are many ways!
- Donate. All methods to do so can be found here. Subscribe to our Patreon or Boosty. If you don’t see a convenient method, reach out to us and we’ll figure something out.
- Lend a hand. We often need to help deliver an animal to a clinic, set up a humane cat trap, deliver stuff to a foster home, etc.
- Provide foster housing. If your landlord allows for pets, and you’re ready to temporarily invite an animal, send us a message. This is always one of our greatest needs. We provide all the things an animal might need, paying for food, doctor’s appointments, etc. The only thing we ask of you is care and commitment.
- Become a cat delivery person. When one of our charges is getting adopted by someone in a different country, we’re on the lookout for a chaperone. If you’re going on a vacay and ready to take a cat with you, please reach out! We cover all the animal’s expenses and provide all necessary documentation. We see you off at the airport and the animal’s new parents meet you at your destination. Right now we’re searching for someone to deliver:
- Tell your friends about us. The more people know about us the more chances our charges have to find a new home. You can follow us on Telegram
- Support our other project GitaZone, where we do all things pop-science. This one helps us fund Kotoprovod: we organize science festivals, academic speeches and talks, and make videos for our Youtube channel. You can subscribe to GitaZone/LabMouse on TikTok, Telegram, and Instagram. Your likes, reposts and comments help us find our audience, which means helping fund Kotoprovid.
- And you can definitely find your new cat or dog friend among our wards! Check out our CATalogue and message us for a consultation or reach out in the Telegram chat! We’ll help you choose a friend who is perfect for you and your expectations.
How much does it cost to adopt?
If you live in a country different from Armenia, we will ask you to pay for the animal’s ticket and meet them at the discussed airport. Carry-on pet fee depends on the airline, generally ranging from 60 to 100 EUR (if the full transfer route is done by the same airline). Cargo pet fee also depends on the airline company, the price usually being almost the same as the carry-on fee.
If your country requires a rabies antibody titer confirmation test, we expect you to cover its costs. The blood is taken from the animal at a local clinic and then sent to be tested at a certified laboratory in Germany. Some countries that do not require this are the Russian Federation, Canada, and the US (in the case of cats). Some countries that do require this are the EU countries, and the US (in the case of dogs).
The antibody test costs about 100K AMD in Yerevan (which is about 230 EUR). We provide all the receipts.
The full list of countries and their requirements can be found in this wiki (RU).
The great thing is that if your country requires this certification, it will be valid indefinitely provided that you vaccinate your pet every year without fail.
We cover all the rest of the costs (paid housing, medical expenses, vaccinations and treatments). We always welcome donations to fund our work!
I have a rescue, can I give it to you so you find it a home?
Unfortunately, not. We only work with the animals in clear need that we meet on the streets personally. We wish we could help all animals, but we don’t have the means. So we choose to do quality, small-range work rather than saddle ourselves with never-ending cases and quickly burn out. Rescuing animals is a very time- and resource-consuming activity that puts a great strain on your physical and emotional capabilities.
I don’t live in Armenia, can I adopt?
You definitely can! A lot depends on your country’s policies, though. You need to check the requirements for animal import. An animal also requires a chaperone, and sometimes it takes time to find one, so you have to be ready to wait. Also see How much does it cost to adopt? to check the costs.
Do your charges have proper documentation?
Yes. All our wards have international passports, chips, and have had all the necessary vaccinations. Depending on your country’s requirements, additional documentation can be organised and provided as well.
