We found this cat in a terrible condition while preparing the venue for the Science and Cats festival. To raise funds for Kotoprovod, we organize popular science lectures and festivals.
On October 14, 2023, we had been preparing the Science and Cats festival since early morning. At one point, a cat came into the courtyard of our partners, Letters and Numbers, where the festival was taking place. He was acting strangely: he could barely stand, his eyes were unfocused, and he had great difficulty getting up and reacting to anything.
We rushed him to a clinic. Just two hours later, a second cat appeared in the very same spot at the venue, in exactly the same condition. Our volunteer grabbed the second cat and rushed him to the same clinic. We named the second cat Sprat.
Neither cat showed signs of infection; their condition looked more like poisoning. We suspect rat poison.
After a day of supportive care, the first cat did not make it. We did not even have time to give him a name. Sprat lived only one week longer.
